S.T.E.P.S.

CITEE staff have delivered the very popular S.T.E.P.S. programme at various centres including: Willenhall Employment, Education & Training Centre, Osaba, Coventry City Council and Tile Hill College as well as at CITEE. CITEE is one of a group of community partners, together with the Bangladesh Centre and Foleshill Women’s Training, who have been trained by The Pacific Institute to deliver this programme.
Through videos and group work, the programme teaches participants how to develop their potential and achieve success in every area of their lives. England football player Andy Cole went through a version of the programme after a spell of injury had robbed him of his confidence, and it helped him significantly in his return to form.

People who have completed the course have said that the programme was “a real eye-opener”, “stimulating, challenging, motivating and confidence-building, as well as being enjoyable and fun”.
We all had an opportunity earlier in the year to meet The Pacific Institute’s founder, Lou Tice at a conference hosted by The Chamber, Coventry Centre for Investment and Warwickshire County Council. At this event two CITEE S.T.E.P.S. graduates received awards in recognition of their achievement and an inspiring time was had by all.

LIME ( Learning in maths and english )

CITEE Manager, Martin Prue, has been co-ordinating a successful project delivering basic skills to groups who traditionally find this provision difficult to access. Partners in the project are Community Education, Coventry MIND, Valley House, Coventry Cyrenians, Murray Lodge and Probation Services. A Financial Literacy advisory group reporting directly to David Blunkett recently visited the project.

CITEE staff, Martin, Louise, Ian & Ros, who all successfully completed their Adult Teaching Certificates.

Dianne Nicholson directed a short video interview, using Martin at CITEE for a college project. She is now doing a BTec in Media Studies, aiming to achieve a university place in 2001.
